Shannon Henry

Delaware County Commissioner

Being involved in my community has been a priority in my life!  I’ve been serving Albany and Delaware County professionally and through volunteerism for the past 29 years.

Serving Delaware County as a “working” commissioner is very important to me.  If elected, I plan to spend time not just in meetings, but outside of the office observing and offering my assistance to all divisions of Delaware County Government.  This “hands on” approach is how I have served the past eight years as an Albany Town Council member.

Some of my goals as commissioner are to work with all Council Members, Commissioners, and County Department Heads, work hard seeking efficiencies in how Delaware County government spends taxpayer money to be able to once again obtain a structurally balanced budget and get Delaware County’s finances back in the black.  As elected officials, we should also evaluate regulations and past practices to encourage business investment or re-investment in Delaware County.

To enhance the quality of life for the people of Delaware County, proven leaders must be elected to run an efficient and effective government in this county.  I feel I have proven my leadership skills as listed:

  • 1985-1995  Captain of Albany EMS
  • 1987-1993  Sergeant of Delaware County EMS
  • 1996-Present  Assistant Chief of Albany Volunteer Fire Department
  • 1992-Present  Chief of Albany Police Department
  • 2006-Present  Albany Town Council member
  • 2009-Present Assistant Commander of IDHS District 6 Taskforce
  • 2013 The StarPress Person of the Year
